2026 OIL PAINTING & DRAWING WORKSHOPS
Our series of Oil Painting Courses and Classes are delivered as hands-on workshops in our beautiful, naturally lit Ayrshire Atelier studio. Designed for all skill levels, you’ll learn traditional, realist techniques from both our Creative Director Sarah Margaret Gibson and various guest instructors, and you’ll meet other oil painting enthusiasts in the process.
Figure Drawing: Creating Depth & Structure in Mixed Media

Join Grand Central Atelier Instructor, Scott Garder for this intensive, 5-day figure drawing class! In this course you will learn the fundamental techniques for creating both highly accurate and compelling figure drawings whilst working in mixed media from the live model. Scott will focus on both optical and conceptual drawing methods simultaneously.

Learn how to compose and paint simple still lifes in this oil painting workshop taught by Ayrshire Atelier’s Creative Director, Sarah Margaret Gibson. Students will work from life, creating their compositions from a variety of fresh fruits and antique still life objects. Sarah will take you through her entire method, from underpainting, to colour mixing, to a fully rendered oil painting.
